We’re suffering from chess-fever

After years of playing UNO and lottery – games, our children are suddenly enthused by chess, 😉

Mirror, mirror, on the wall…

Here we leave you a few impressions of the beautiful handicrafts our children made during Holy Week.
We wish you !HAPPY EASTER!

My work…

I first started working for the childparadise Los GUSANITOS two and a half years ago as a volunteer and I really enjoyed it. After that I got an employment contractand and was in charge of one group of children. Simultaneasly I started working on my math teachers degree during the weekends. These were verry valuable and precious experiences and the chance of a life time. Since then I learned a lot, and I am so greatful that Priska let me be a part of this beatiful paradise and trusted me.
Throughout these last few years I got to know each and every of our 40 children – their personal needs, their strengthnesses and weaknesses and all of their many different charakters. I don’t feel like my job is only giving all I’ve got, I also had the chance to mature as  person trough the difficult situations I’ve experienced with my children.
I realized quite soon, that what our children need most is dedication, love and care. That I am always there when they need me and that I will stand up for them when difficult situations arise comes really natural to me.
A few months ago Priska gave me another great opportunity by asigning me to help our children with their homework and tutor them. Through supporting our children educationally, I can gain experience for my teachers degree. I really love my new tasks an am verry greatful for this new opportunity. Pirska is not only doing a great job with all our children, but also whith us – her employees. Without my jop at Los GUSANITOS and  the great support I recievd for my studies,I could’ve never realized my dream of being a teacher.

With unforgettable laughter…

…we said goodbye to the annual holiday. We’re grateful to have spent so many cheerful moments with the social-circus “Circlosión de Carcajadas” from Madrid – we all cried for joy and gleamed with
pleasure. This wonderful circus-team travels around the globe and dedicates their work to embellish the life of deprived children and conjure a smile on their faces. Never have I ever seen our children and madrinas burst out in such hearty laughter. I am sure this was an unforgettable experience for our children and they can always look back joyfully on this event. Additionally I was surprised, that our children didn’t miss the obligatory Piñata, which usually plays an important part in Nicaraguan parties. That is incredible and for this success the “Circlosión de Carcajadas” deserves a special
award. And I am sure that in the following weeks this event is everything the children will talk about.
But these were not all the surprises of that day. The children from Sabaneta came by foot to Tamarindo, when suddenly a woman stopped her car to ask the children who they were and where they were going. A few hours later she knocked on our door holding three bags filled with new shoes
for our children. We later learned that her name is Jessina and she is the owner of a shoe factory in Granada. She said: „ When I saw them walking down the street I thought that they are probably
children from deprived families that’s why I stopped my car”.
I am totally overwhelmed! A simple THANK YOU just seems insufficient, but right now it’s all I can give. On that note I send a gigantic hug and loads of kisses to the “Circlosión de Carcajadas” and Jessina. Thank you for that unforgettable day!

Batteries well charged…

…we are complete and with a good mood, because until 5 of February we will still enjoy scholar vacations of our children.
Thanks to our faithful donors we have could bought 12 computers, to finally our girls and boys from LOS GUSANITOS sabaneta can take advantage of important instrument of computing in the education.
Since February 2018, 35 of our 40 girls and boys from tamarindo, they will find in scholar ages. An urgent measure, was extend the educational furniture that we could made. it was urgent to extend our computing room, two years ago have to hold, we had to educated very tight each other. Now it shine with 16 chairs instead of 10 as in last years.
Another need was the educational space of our girls and boys from kindergarten, that all together are 12 at Tamarindo. So, we have create their own space were before was” the movie theater” painted and equipped with an environment adapted to their needs. In that way they can take the time to their educational games in tranquility and do the homework that they have to bring to school.
Still there is too much to do, because we are missing the last furniture, here and there are missing happy murals, etc, etc, etc… as every year we have to go to Managua city to buy lot of scholar books, notebooks, scholar material and educational toys for our 60 kids in scholar ages. But as I said:  we have the batteries well charged, thanks to our donors we have the money to buy the necessary and we have the support of our biggest girls that help us where they can. So, our small paradise little by little shine in new clothes.
I hope that you also have start the year with enough energy and optimism that lasts until December.
And finally a picture with Stephany, Genesis, Javiera, Daysi and Anita-our visitor from Los GUSANITOS Switzerland-painting some furniture in happy colors.
A huge hug and tender greetings
